Born, near Maurice - Québec,
Martin Cadorette is a self-taught artist, who’s been painting for over twenty years. Over the last ten years Martin’s technique has evolved from large brush strokes to bold and highly textured palette knife work, and from figurative to nonfigurative content.
Using varying intensities of knife strokes, his highly textured work, in which he uses earth tones with blues, and more recently greens, reds and hues of black and white combine in harmonious balance, with exceptional depth. This technique allows one’s imagination to wander to a new appreciation of Cadorette’s fascinating work with each viewing.
The influences of Paul-Emile Borduas, the pioneer of Québec abstract, can be clearly seen.
