The paintings of Downe Burns reflect both his talent and also, his unrelenting passion for painting. He has the rare ability to paint using a very distinct semi-abstract style yet achieve an almost universal appeal.
Largely a self taught artist, Burns studied business and art history at University for a brief time before leaving to devote himself solely to art fulltime.
He committed to life as a painter and quickly hit his stride.
While living in New Mexico, Downe Burns was heavily influenced by the natural geography and surroundings of the area. Often Burns painted the indigenous "Saguaro cacti" cactus in his pieces and his unique meld of composition and color was unforgettable.
Downe's desire is to create works that are both emotive and pleasant. He avoids the darker moods of the environment, choosing to allow his imagery to create positive feelings.
Downe now lives with his wife and three children in a rural Texan setting and this slow- paced family lifestyle has resulted in a wonderful new series of paintings. These works are charged with a dynamic "Tuscany meets Texas" energy that strikes the viewer with the artist's hallmark array of vivid colors.
